A 4x4 that starts missing dash lights, flattening batteries or dropping accessories in the middle of a trip is not having a minor moment. Modern 4x4s also have more electronics than many owners realise. Beyond the obvious items like lights and batteries, there are control modules for engine management, transmission, traction systems, airbags, stability control and charging. Add aftermarket driving lights, brake controllers, UHF radios, fridges, compressors and caravan wiring, and the electrical system gets crowded quickly.
